Is Amazon Prime Worth it?
Is Amazon Prime Worth It in Ireland – or the UK?
Short answer: Definitely worth it.
Based on my years of experience as a Prime member and customer on the UK site, I can honestly say the perks, from fast shipping to exclusive deals; make it a smart choice, especially for people in Ireland and the UK. If you’re on the fence, keep reading. Still unsure after that? You can use one of my links below to sign up for a 30-day free trial—I doubt you’ll want to cancel once you see everything Prime offers.
What is Amazon Prime? (And Why I Hesitated)
Amazon Prime is one of those subscriptions I used to scroll past without much thought. For years, I saw that little “Prime” logo pop up beside products on Amazon UK, but I didn’t bother to look into it. I figured it was just another monthly cost I didn’t need — and at first glance, the subscription fee felt a bit steep. Why pay around €10.50 a month just for faster delivery?
But as time went on, I noticed I was ordering more and more items from Amazon — especially things I couldn’t find easily in Ireland. Shipping fees started to pile up, and I began to wonder if Prime might actually save me money. That’s when I finally gave the 30-day free trial a go, telling myself I’d cancel before it renewed.
What surprised me was how quickly the benefits became obvious. Free delivery on loads of items (even across the Irish Sea), early access to lightning deals, and access to Prime Video — it all added up fast. I didn’t expect to get much use out of the streaming service, but it turned out to be a solid bonus. And with the other perks like Prime Reading and Prime Music quietly sitting there in the background, it was suddenly hard to go back.
Looking back, I hesitated for too long. If you're ordering from Amazon regularly — even just two or three packages a month — Prime almost pays for itself. Add in the extras like video streaming and audiobooks, and it's one of the more valuable subscriptions out there. I wish I’d signed up sooner.

My Personal Prime Experience
Even after finally trying the Amazon Prime free trial, I still expected to cancel. I figured I’d use it for a month, get a couple of free deliveries, and be done with it. But the more I used it, the more I realised just how much I’d been missing out on.
As someone based in Ireland, shopping online often means dealing with delays, high postage, or limited access to certain products. Prime smoothed out most of those bumps. I was suddenly getting faster delivery, less hassle, and a broader range of things I could actually get shipped over without a headache.
What really sealed the deal for me wasn’t just the free shipping — it was all the extra value tucked in. I started watching Prime Video occasionally and using the lightning deals to nab a few surprise discounts I wouldn’t have found otherwise. It became less about saving on postage and more about having a versatile, well-rounded service at my fingertips.
Now, years later, it’s just part of my routine. I shop smarter, save money over time, and even enjoy a few perks I never expected to use. So if you're on the fence about Prime, I get it — I was too. But once it clicked for me, I never looked back. That said, I always check for Irish businesses selling what I need first - it’s only right and proper to support local when I can.
